About me and my practice
With 5 children, 3 of which have additional needs, I know that parenting can be overwhelming at times. Children can suffer with poor mental health and watching your child struggle can be heartbreaking. I am passionate about helping you and your child to restore a healthy sense of mental wellbeing, by utilising Creativity to empower self expression and find ways in which to cope with their emotions and continue to grow and heal.
Not only can our children struggle, but parents can also struggle. Parental burnout is a real thing and after struggling on my own for so long, I had become a shadow of the gentle, fun mum I had been.
Navigating our childrens emotions can be tricky, and alongside the everyday mental and physical load that is parenthood, it can become a chore.
But I strongly believe it doesnt have to be like this.
I want to help other Parents by giving you the tools that you need to reduce the overwhelm and make you a calmer, happier, more connected parent.
Experience
I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Creative Arts therapeutic play therapist. I am a registered and approved member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) practising within their ethical framework.
I am trained in integrative therapy this means that I am trained in more than one theory (ie, psychodynamic, gestalt, person centred, CBT, attachment theory, rewind therapy, play therapy, sand tray, narrative, transactional analysis and others).
Why is this beneficial?
This means that the therapy can be completely bespoke to each individuals needs, utilising the different modalities when it suits the clients journey.
Qualifications
Kirsty holds a foundation degree in integrative counselling, advanced diploma in creative arts therapy working with children meeting all the BACP criteria in order to work with children and young people, and a diploma in child, adolescent and family therapy amongst other ongoing CPD and yearly safeguarding and course on Autism, ADHD and other developmental conditions.
